The Central Bank of Ireland serves the public interest by maintaining monetary and financial stability while ensuring that the financial system operates in the best interests of consumers and the wider economy.

The Central Bank is designated as the market surveillance authority for certain prohibited practices as set out in Article 5(1)(a), (b) and (c) [to be aligned with finalised designating S.I.] of the AI Act and for high-risk AI systems called out in Annex III Points 5(b) and (c) of the AI Act, where such systems are placed on the market, put into service or used by regulated financial service providers in direct connection with the provision of regulated financial services.
