About Us

The AI Office of Ireland is the State's central coordinating authority for the implementation and enforcement of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. Established as an independent statutory body under the remit of the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, we bring together Ireland's regulators, government and the public to ensure that artificial intelligence is developed and used in a way that is safe, trustworthy and fair.

We were established under the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Bill 2026, which gives effect in Irish law to Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — the world's first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence. Our role sits at the heart of Ireland's wider National Digital and AI Strategy, which positions the country as a trusted, innovation-friendly hub for AI in Europe.
