Rights and protection

Your rights

The EU AI Act sets rules for organisations that develop or use AI. The strictest rules apply where AI could affect your safety or your rights, for example in recruitment, credit decisions or access to public services.

Under the Act:

  • some uses of AI are banned outright because the risk to people is too high

  • AI used in high risk areas must meet strict requirements, including human oversight

  • in certain situations, organisations must tell you when you are dealing with AI

Raising a concern

If you are concerned that an organisation is not following the  EU AI rules correctly, please let us know by using the Contact the AI Office of Ireland service desk form.

We will share your report with the appropriate regulator from the team of National Competent authorities that are coordinated by the AI Office of Ireland.
