ComReg is the market surveillance authority (MSA) and national competent authority in Ireland under point 6 of Annex I of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 for AI systems used as safety components in radio equipment pursuant to the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, as amended. Radio equipment is any electrical or electronic product which intentionally emits radio waves for the purpose of radiocommunication and / or radio-determination. ComReg is also the MSA under point 2 of Annex III of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act for AI systems used as safety components in the management and operation of critical digital infrastructure as used by an entity identified as a critical entity under the Critical Resilience Directive, Directive (EU) 2022/2557.
